Apply for Challenge Act Sustainably!
Challenge: Act Sustainably
Do you want to actively contribute to sustainable development? Have you often been told that you are full of ideas and a problem solver? By taking part in Challenge: Act Sustainably, you will solve a real life sustainability case together with like-minded students. You will have the opportunity to exchange ideas and knowledge with others who are passionate about sustainability. This is also the perfect oppurtunity to expand your own network.
What to expect?
- Two physical meetups - one kick-off on and a final presentation. At these events you get to meet all companies and students participating in the challenge. You will also be presented to your team and your company. Of course, food and refreshments will be served during the events, so that you can keep your energy levels up and your minds sharp.
- In between the meetups you will work with the case. The work covers about 10-15 hours per person to come up with your team's solution. If feasible, you also get to do a study visit at the company.
- You gain experience of applying your knowledge to existing challenges in real companies and get insight into current sustainability challenges businesses face and you also get the opportunity to make a real difference and contribute to sustainable development!
Who are you?
For this event, we would like to invite you who study, or have keen interest in, sustainability topics and how to apply them in a company context. Your main background could be in humanities, social sciences, engineering, science, economics, or other disciplines. And of course, you are a team player and have great problem-solving skills. We celebrate diversity and realise that a wide range of competencies are needed to solve the complex sustainability issues that companies face today.
The companies
You will have the opportunity to work with one of the four participating companies:
- Vandra of Sweden AB, a unique travel agency offering self-guided hiking trips in Europe. Vandra of Sweden AB invites you to explore the role of digital and analogue customer communication in creating a holistically sustainable hiking trip. (SDG 8, SDG 12)
- Ecolean, a global company providing liquid food packaging solutions. The Challenge will be to investigate the attitudes towards plastic food packing among European consumers. (SDG 2, SDG 12)
- Fika Berga is a café with its own bakery and pastry shop. The company's challenge is to explore how to organize the business to create knowledge and engagement around sustainability issues among the staff. (SDG 8, SDG 12)
- Foodtel saves food that is damaged during transportation from going to waste. They challenge you to find new ways to repurpose products that are too damaged to be used in cooking and food production. (SDG 9, SDG 12)
