Bring the Children’s Garden to Life

Client
Blomrankan Preschool in Åkarp, Burlöv Municipality, is an independent preschool known for its strong focus on outdoor activities and an exploratory approach to learning. The schoolyard is used as a pedagogical space where children engage in gardening, building, playing, and discovering every day. Nature is fully integrated into the learning process, and regular excursions are made to nearby parks and green spaces using electric cargo bikes.
Blomrankan’s pedagogy is built on a child-centered and curious approach, where children's own ideas and initiatives are encouraged. Through creativity, movement, play, and music, children are given the opportunity to explore the world in a safe and inspiring environment. Health and sustainability are central to the preschool’s work, and meals—prepared by the in-house chef—give children a chance to practice independence and take part in mealtime education.
The Assignment
Blomrankan is now looking for students who want to help further develop the outdoor environment, with a special focus on gardening. A small garden has already been started with the children, and now there is an opportunity to take the project to the next level. The goal is to make gardening an even more central part of the preschool’s work toward a sustainable future.
The preschool is seeking suggestions for plants that can be grown with the children—both edible crops that could be used in meals and plants that support pollinators and biodiversity. Through this project, you will have the chance to contribute creative ideas and help shape a dynamic, educational outdoor space where children can watch their gardens grow while learning about nature’s processes.
