Welcome to Sustainability Case Night - Tourism and Hospitality

Join us for an inspiring evening in the beautiful seaside city of Helsingborg, where you’ll help shape the future of sustainable tourism, hospitality, and urban development.

Hosted by Visit Helsingborg and Sustainalink, this event invites you to an evening of knowledge sharing, mingling, and creative thinking. Together with fellow students, you’ll tackle real-world challenges and contribute to making Helsingborg an even more sustainable and welcoming destination.

The organisations

Four local organisations will present cases related to tourism and hospitality. Your mission: explore their challenges and develop innovative ideas. Here’s what’s on the table:

  • Visit Helsingborg is the city's tourism organization promoting the city of Helsingborg as a travel destination. They’re intrigued by CopenPay—a Copenhagen initiative that rewards visitors with free experiences when they make sustainable choices, such as cycling or eating plant-based meals. Could a similar concept thrive in Helsingborg—and how might it take shape?
  • Helsingborg Citysamverkan (HBG City) is a joint initiative between businesses, property owners, and the municipality to strengthen the city center’s appeal. With brick-and-mortar retail in decline, they are asking: what should the future city center look like?
  • Helsingborgs Hotellgrupp is a nonprofit association uniting local hotels to collaborate on hospitality standards, development, and promoting Helsingborg as a welcoming destination. Your challenge: How can hotels encourage guests to choose sustainable behaviours during their stay while ensuring an exceptional guest experience?
  • Arbetsmarknadsförvaltningen, The City’s Labour Market Administration, seeks your ideas on how to make the hospitality sector a long‑term career choice for young people. What could attract more talents and make them want to stay and grow in the industry?

The evening

We will start off with presenting the organisers and introduce you to the cases. Thereafter you and your group will have an intense but exciting time working on your cases, with support from the organisations and Sustainalink. Finally your group will get 5 minutes to present your results for all participants, followed by 5 minutes of questions, discussions and feedback.
